About Catherine Reid
B.A., R.Y.T.
Private yoga instruction with gentle respectful personal attention.
My very first Yoga class was one of those aha moments. I felt at home, in body and mind, for maybe the first time ever. This was in 1974, and although it took me 30 years to wind up in Yoga Teacher Training, Yoga always wove itself in and out of my life as a trusted support.
Having created and taught many specialized Yoga classes since 2005 (Yoga for Gardeners, Yoga for Midlife Women, Yoga for Vision Improvement, Yoga for Men), my greatest joy comes from seeing people’s smiles when they leave class, or hearing about how their back pain has disappeared. Can I assist you in creating a satisfying transformation in your health?

More About Me
Yoga called to Catherine in 1974, and attending that first class was like coming home. Since then, the power of yoga to bring strength and flexibility to her body, and calmness – or at least acceptance – to chaos, has made it easy for her to commit to a lifelong practice. It is a large part of her spiritual path.
There have been times in her life of intense difficulty, and one thing that stood as a powerful pillar of support was her daily practice. In the midst of a lengthy family crisis, it took tremendous discipline to continue practicing yoga. The act of stepping onto the yoga mat, pausing, and breathing deeply created a small circle of profound relief and stability.
Catherine’s classes offer a safe place to learn about and practice yoga. Whatever your physical, emotional, or mental state might be when you walk into the studio, you’ll find acceptance. You’ll remember how to breathe. You might even remember a deep place within you that is quietly content. And you will almost certainly laugh.
She combines a light-hearted and playful style with a deep respect for the history and depth of yoga’s principles. Catherine also inspires students to take their yoga off the mat and into daily life. Her classes are joyful, varied, powerful, and heart-based. She loves learning new things about yoga specifically, health and wellness in general, and sharing what she learns with class participants.
Catherine currently teaches various levels and styles of Hatha Yoga in several locations throughout the Comox Valley. She maintains her registration with Yoga Alliance, and continues to deepen her knowledge through extensive research, workshops and conferences. She especially enjoys helping people reduce or eliminate pain, during private sessions of therapeutic yoga.
